Dr Melissa Meehan graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with honours in 2002 and commenced her career in a mixed practice in the Yarra Valley. Melissa has presented on pet multimedia productions, co-hosted on radio and produced and hosted her own pet show Vanity Pets for which she received an Antenna award for Best Female Presenter. Soon after Melissa became resident vet reporter for the Nine Network’s Talk to the Animals and then Channel 7’s Guide to the Good Life.
In 2008 Melissa became a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists through examination in Small Animal Medicine. Today Melissa owns a busy veterinary ophthalmology consulting business working closely with the RSPCA and many other Melbourne veterinary clinics. Melissa’s rescue dogs Mia and Monty can often be seen accompanying her at work – one of the perks of being a vet!.
An AFI and Logie award winner Gyton has appeared on the big and small screens of Australia. Known best for his work in the original Underbelly as the notorious gangster Carl Williams and starring in the TV Series House Husbands, Gyton has also shone in films The Dressmaker, Beneath Hill 60, Balibo, The Reef, Prime Mover, A Man’s Gotta Do, Danny Deckchair, Under The Radar, Blurred, Swimming Upstream and many more film and TV shows.
Gyton currently stars in the feature film Don’t Tell in Australian cinemas and will soon be seen in the television series We Were Tomorrow. As host of Pooches at Play, Gyton brings along his best four-legged friend George for the ride. A Lab Kelpie cross, George’s favourite pastimes are chasing balls, swimming in creeks and the ocean and eating tissues.
Lara has worked as a producer, presenter and writer across radio, TV and print, and in marketing roles with a focus on conservation and animal welfare issues for over 20 years. In early 2014, Lara founded Pooches at Play dog services. In the same year, Lara embarked on a 25 day, 2000+km journey across Indonesia Borneo to raise awareness of the plight of the Orangutan, with her debut documentary The Trans Borneo Challenge airing nationally on Channel 9 in August 2015.
Lara has completed the Government Accredited Certificate III in Dog Behaviour & Training with the National Dog Trainers’ Federation and runs her own dog training, walking and minding business in Melbourne’s Bayside. Never far from her side is the cheeky Darcy, whose breed is a mystery and who has some gaps in his history before finding his forever home with Lara.
